Our verdict: Multicolor-first buyers: the U1, and it is not close — 5× faster multicolor with near-zero waste. Everyone else: the P2S — more mature software, enclosed out of the box, and $300 cheaper. The U1 is the future; the P2S is the present.

Key differences

  • Snapmaker U1 strengths: SnapSwap toolchanger: ~5 s swaps, virtually zero purge waste; Multicolor prints finish up to 5× faster — no purge towers; Outstanding quality: 29/30 TechRadar; reliability rivaling Prusa XL.
  • Bambu Lab P2S strengths: Print quality rivaling the X1C for much less money, per owner comparisons; DynaSense servo extruder: fewer jams, better consistency on CF-PLA and TPU; Fully enclosed — ABS, ASA, and nylon-capable at $549.
  • Snapmaker U1 weaknesses: Enclosure not included — $149 Top Cover "lid tax," passive only; Stock nozzles are stainless only — no hardened steel out of the box.
  • Bambu Lab P2S weaknesses: Closed firmware — no Klipper access, real ecosystem lock-in; Multicolor purging still wastes filament.
